#YouthDevelopment is another one of our main community-centered priorities, and it means acknowledging that the next generation will inherit the Earth as we know it. That’s why youth need to be involved in its care today. In this video, hear directly from Pueblo youth in #NewMexico why they get involved in land stewardship, from Cochiti to Jemez Pueblo.

Our partners @reserva_coeas (Ecological Committee of the Aldea de Suyapa) have been hard at work for the last 35 years reforesting and protecting their watersheds in Honduras 💪💪

Our partnership with the @ancestrallands has allowed us to expand early-career opportunities for Tribal youth. The ALCC’s Individual Placement Program supports Native American young adults in internship opportunities, such as those at the Cochiti Pueblo’s Department of Natural Resources and Conservation and the Ute Mountain Ute Environmental Programs Department. Interns gain access to career development opportunities offered by Conservation Legacy and the ALCC, while working directly with the Tribal governments in natural resources management.

At TWP we value cross-cultural exchange, where #youth shares experiences with other cultures, communities, and organizations, allowing them to learn more about untold histories, challenges, and opportunities across generations. When we’re able to share with other youth, it is a unique opportunity.

By working together with Kwiyagat Community Academy and the Tribal Environmental Programs Department in Towaoc, Colorado, we hope to broaden experiential learning opportunities available to Ute Mountain Ute students and young adults. #Tree #planting events held in the Mancos Canyon provide an opportunity for #Tribal #youth to learn from their elders about culturally important plants, such as cottonwood, willow, and sumac, that depend on disappearing riparian ecosystems.

We are truly honored to work with so many amazing women like Doña Lesbia Perez (first photo) from the community of La Bendicion in Guatemala,leader of the women’s group. She continually advocates for their active participation in community governance, economic activities and also for the creation of safe spaces for #women.

Photo of the Week: The Sacred Earth Lodge is open!

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past weekend for the Grand Opening of the Sacred Earth Lodge. It was great to celebrate this important moment in the Tribal Renewable Energy Program’s history with all of our friends and family.

Sacred Earth Lodge is a one-of-a kind facility located on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. It is a beautiful and functional space available for rent to visitors, conferences, workshops, and as an affordable meeting location in the heart of Indian Country.

We offer hostel-style lodging with shared sleeping spaces, restrooms, and a community kitchen.
